The Women’s Spirituality Group meets regularly throughout the year for an engaging experience of ritual and prayer, fellowship, and growth in wisdom and grace. Sessions may consist of shared reflection and discussion on a spiritual journal or a movie, or a simply involve connecting with other women in a social setting. For the most part, sessions are scheduled on the 4th Friday of the month from 7:00—9:00 pm on the 3rd floor of the Catholic Center.
Our parish has a tradition of sponsoring an “Advent Evening of Reflection for Women.” This is a catered meal with a presentation on the first Tuesday evening in December a hundred or so women. This is a special, festive occasion for women to join with other women to enjoy each other’s company while learning about a relevant topic. Several men of the parish do a splendid job serving as waiters!
During the academic year, men of our parish meet on the 2nd and 4th Sundays of the month for prayer and discussion. Sessions are held in the chapel of our Catholic Center, 9:20am-10:20am. Over the years, St. Monica-St. George has become known for sponsoring a number of excellent presentations—some by nationally-known speakers—covering a wide-range of topics such as Merton, Hildegaard de Bingen, or Pope Francis’ Encyclical Laudato Si’.
From time to time, a book study series is offered to enable participants to reflect more deeply on a particular theme or issue. Past book studies have included The Dance of the Dissident Daughter by Sue Monk Kidd and The Book of Forgiving by Desmond and Mpho Tutu. Do you have a book study suggestion?
